CHARACTER INFO

Character: Son Gohan
Canon: Dragon Ball Z, post final battle with Cell, towards the beginning of the seven year time skip.
Age: It's complicated thanks to time compression shenanigans, let's just say it's 11.

Background Information: Please accept this link.

Personality: Please answer the following questions about your character. Be as clear as possible, and provide examples where you can. You can format this section as either 1) individual sections for each question; or 2) a more freeform essay/paragraph that covers all the topics. Please do not exceed 1200 words total.
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
"I've gotta be strong! Everyone's counting on me, I can't let them down! Like against the Saiyans... or the Ginyu Force, or Frieza. Whenever my friends needed me most I was always too weak or too scared to help them. I've been letting them down my whole life!"
One's first impression of Gohan would be thinking that he's a shy, awkward kid, and it's not an incorrect one. Gohan's nervous and unsure of himself, frequently overthinking things without his more confident allies there to give him the shove in the right direction he needs. He shows hesitation in making his own decisions, content to just go along with what others tell him to do. He's emotional, prone to crying fits as a toddler that gave way to being paralyzed with fear and hesitation as a child.

But Gohan's experiences as a child slowly but surely helped him to "man up". When push comes to shove, Gohan pushes right back. When he does make up his mind about something, he can be stubborn, almost obstinate about it, refusing to budge and becoming determined to see his decision through no matter the dangers ahead. When it's something he wants to do beyond a shadow of a doubt, he'll set his mind to it and refuse to budge on his desires, no matter how defiant he must be about it. Thus is the duality of Gohan's nature, his indecisiveness coming into conflict with his desires.

Those who get to know Gohan more intimately will soon know the boy that lies within, someone who is kind and compassionate and thoughtful, with a pure and gentle heart, always looking out for others and striving to do right by them. He's got a knack for trying to befriend anyone and anything, and seeing the good in them despite their rough exteriors. He has a true and honorable sense of justice, a natural born hero. But he's also humble, never seeking glory for his accomplishments, even shying away from the limelight and preferring not to be acknowledged.

But there's another side to him, as well, a dangerous side. A deep, unquenchable rage burns within Gohan, one that boils to the surface when he's pushed too far, when his own convictions are challenged too harshly. His anger gives way to unfathomable stores of power, and this power can lead him to be cocky and ruthless in battle, overwhelming his opponents with ease, treating them like mere toys due to the differences in their power compared to his.

And yet, even in the depths of his fury, his naive, kind heart shines through, as he can never bring himself to land a killing blow on his opponents in the end, instead choosing to try and spare their lives. This often backfires on him, leading to terrible consequences for Gohan and forcing him to come to terms with his decisions.

Another duality of Gohan is his own intelligence. To put it simply, he is the sort of person who is "high INT, low WIS". He demonstrates profound intelligence, especially for someone of his age, and will only become more intelligent and well-studied as he get older. But he can also be dense and oblivious, doing poorly at reading social situations or understanding basic common sense concepts due to his own unique upbringing, especially when they're matters of the self.

2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
"I know your kind! You think you can just waltz in and take our planet! But you forgot one thing; I'm my father's SOOOOOONNNNNN!"
Gohan holds no love for fighting, or training, or any conflict. His true calling in life is to be a scholar, and all he longs for is to one day achieve that. He doesn't want to fight, he wants to study and learn and grow. But when you're a half-alien human hybrid with unspeakable amounts of power born in a world where the next greatest danger waits, life isn't so simple as to simply allow him what he wants.

It isn't the prospect of these great dangers that spurs Gohan on, however. If it were that easy, he'd always be training, making sure he was strong enough to handle whatever opponent came his way, like his father before him. Only when faced with the true fear of these threats, seeing the grinning monsters in the shadows for the absolute dangers that they are and witnessing what will happen to everyone and everything he cares about if he doesn't step up and take action, does Gohan finally show what he's capable of.

Gohan is a defender, a protector of that which he holds dear. That desire to protect what he loves, so he can live a happy life pursuing what he enjoys surrounded by those he cherishes, is what spurs Gohan on. At the end of the day, he'll step up to do what he has to do, not because he necessarily wants to, but because he knows it's the right thing to do.

3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
"Incredible. When his emotions run wild, he loses control and taps into some sort of vast hidden power."
Gohan's emotions are something that serves as both Gohan's greatest strength and his most terrible weakness. Gohan is referred to as a natural prodigy when it comes to his potential for strength, even describing it as limitless to how intrinsically it is tied to his emotional state. The angrier he gets, the more his power spikes, increasing exponentially.

But Gohan is a gentle child, who desires a peaceful life away from all the danger and fighting. He dislikes fighting and has no real natural drive to improve his strength despite his capacity for power. He even fears the power that lies in his emotions to a degree, afraid that if he was pushed too far, he could hurt someone he cares about. This fear of his anger keeps Gohan from achieving his true potential and limits what he's really capable of.

Holding back on his emotions, Gohan exhibits hesitation and indecisiveness, even inaction in the face of danger when he should be doing something to stop it. But if he gives in too strongly to his emotions, he becomes cocky and arrogant, drunk on his power and thinking his weaker opponents are now beneath him despite the threats they pose. This delicate balance of his emotional state proves to be Gohan's undoing multiple times, the former costing him the life of his mentor, and the latter the life of his father. Both of these incidents at their respective times weighed heavily on Gohan's heart, serving as key factors for him to do better in their honor.

Gohan is also terribly passive. Unlike his father, who was a very proactive person, often doing things simply because they needed to be done, Gohan is a reactive person. Even when he knows what he must do, he often holds himself back from taking action due to his own hesitations, and only makes a move when he's faced with the consequences of his own inaction. This is a flaw of his that he's working to overcome, but it's a work in progress.

4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Gohan is half-Saiyan, which means he is part monkey-alien and also can turn his hair blond by yelling really loudly.

Abilities & Inventory: Here is a list of Gohan's abilities. Please note that any transformations listed below Super Saiyan 2 are irrelevant to him at his current canon point.

Inventory-wise, Gohan will only come with his Demon School training gi (complete with cape ofc), and a couple senzu beans. Although the beans can be grown, Gohan has no knowledge of how to do so himself, so they're single use items unless he got more of them via rewards.

ARMADA SELECTION

Gohan is a natural fit for the Paladins, being very devoted to the concept of doing what is right, and protecting those who cannot protect themselves. He's got a strong sense of justice even at this age and always sticks by his morals.
