Nothing much, just wanted to see if you're not doing anything right now. If you aren't, do you think you could fly on by here and teach me how you use your ki to fly?
[Gohan's his student now, right? A master can impart a few secrets here and there, even ones that aren't really much of a secret. Besides, even if he tries contacting her, he'd just get his username, so...]
That won't be necessary. She's fine, and she already knows.
[Switch to camera screen, where Ranma stands with a pail of water in his hands. He holds it up, without any word or explanation why he's even got one to begin with, and turned it over right over his head. Letting the contents come straight down on him...]
[... and in the second it took for the water to travel down from his head to the floor, Ranma's personage had been completely replaced with that of one Gohan might recognize from a few months ago.]
[Gohan is taken aback by the sudden clicking on of the camera, as Ranma is in full view of the camera. And... Holding a pail of water? Is this one of those ice bucket challenges he's heard people talking about?
He doesn't have long to consider that, as the water comes down on Ranma, creating a startling transformation as Ranma... turns into Ranma!]
[Yeah he never once considered that Trunks is named after clothing. Or that the rest of Trunks' family are all just underwear. Or that Piccolo was an instrument. Or that Saiyans are all just vegetables. Don't send him down that rabbit hole.]
[That's... an interesting curse, one that changes your physical appearance from a man to a woman or vice versa. He'll be happier not thinking about the deeper implications of that. There's a lot for his science to unpack there.]
How'd you end up with a curse like that? Did you upset an ancient wizard? Or did a wish you made go poorly? Or is it a bloodline trait?
My old man dragged me to a training grounds with all these springs. The oaf didn't bother learning more about it in advance outside of it sounding cool, so he didn't know it was cursed. If you fell into any of the springs, you become whatever drowned in the water whenever you're doused with cold water. Pop got panda, I got girl.
Took the words out of my mouth. [That's. Not what he meant probably, but she's going to move on, walking on-screen to the kitchen to start boiling water in a tea kettle.] I've learned how to deal with it though.
[Plop down on the counter. If she fits, she sits.]
Point is, you've only gotta worry about teaching one Ranma how to fly.
Right. [Gohan nods. The situation's kind of confusing, but there being only one Ranma does make things simpler, at least.] And I know this Ranma's already pretty experienced with martial arts!
So, first things first... [He really wasn't sure where to begin with teaching how to fly. Does he just... Take Ranma into the wilderness somewhere and abandon them there?]
Umm... You know about ki control, right? How much do you know?
[Goten's inherent ability to make anyone smile with anything he says must run in the family. Could also just be her skills being acknowledged. Both's a fair guess.
If abandoning him in nature was the easiest way to learn how to fly, then Ranma would've already learnt how to eons ago.]
Just the fundamentals. I know how to project it around me and make it cold, channel it into an attack, store things away with it... [Invert it to become borderline invisible and unperceivable goes unmentioned. The less people learn about a cheap trick like that, the better.] That sorta stuff. Pop's got a better hold on it than I do, so if you're asking if I can do the crazy techniques he and Mr. Tendo can do like make themselves giant, that's a bit too advanced for me.
[Cause clearly, ki works the same in every universe, right?]
[Gohan blinks rapidly and confusedly as Ranma lists off ki techniques. Such techniques are not completely unusual to Gohan, as he's seen all sorts of wild abilities even in his short life. But he'd expect things like that from someone more like Piccolo, not a human...]
Umm... Right...
[People truly are wondrous, aren't they?]
A-anyway! Flight's a pretty basic technique compared to all of that, so it sounds like you have a good grasp on the fundamentals already.

And then after a moment, he responds.]
You want to learn how to fly, too?
no subject
Too?

[You'd think she'd try to follow up if she wanted to learn so badly. But then again, maybe he should have reached out too...]
I don't know how good of a teacher I'll be, but... I could try to contact her to see if she wants to learn...
I'm sorry for the delay, work's been killing me. T_T (1/2)
(Rolled a d20 to decide if he'll tell, got a 17 so...)
That won't be necessary. She's fine, and she already knows.
he'd somehow break the roll anyway
[Oh...]
Huh, I didn't know anybody else could fly here besides me and Goten. I wonder who it was.
... true (1/?)
Oh Gohan. So smart, yet so hopelessly naïve at the same time.]

Ranma and Ranma are the same Ranma?!
[At least he's not dumb enough to think somehow they switched places...]

The names being the same weren't a dead giveaway to you?
no subject
I thought it was just a coincidence. It's not uncommon for two people to have the same name? I know two people named Trunks back home!
[Never mind that they're technically the same person, but in Gohan's mind they aren't.]

[Beat.]
Like the chest or swimwear?
[Not the weirdest naming convention she's heard tbh.]

Forget it. [She shakes her head.] Back on topic, yeah, Ranma and Ranma are one and the same. It's a curse I got back in my world.

[All reasonable guesses tbh tho.]

[There are a bunch of things he could say about it.]
...Kind of lame?
[seriously, what a weird curse to get. it's not even targeted to Ranma specifically!]
